Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. This role is essential in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and ensuring that all residents feel valued and included.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate with care staff to ensure activities are aligned with individual care plans and needs.
- Facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises.
- Organise special events and outings to promote social interaction among residents.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather insights on preferences.
- Provide support in caregiving tasks as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Skills
- Previous experience in care homes highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices and techniques for engaging individuals with Alzheimer’s is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment that encourages resident participation.
- Experience in caregiving or working within a care home setting is an asset.
- A creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative activity ideas that cater to diverse interests.
