Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Care Assistant role based in Leeds. The Care Assistant will provide person-centered support in clients’ homes, including assisting with personal care, mobility, dressing, and hygiene while promoting independence and dignity. Day-to-day tasks include preparing meals, supporting with medication prompts in line with company policy, and carrying out light household duties to maintain a safe and comfortable environment. The role involves offering companionship, providing emotional support, and engaging clients in meaningful activities within their homes and in the community. The Care Assistant will record care notes accurately, follow individual care plans, communicate effectively with the care team and family members as appropriate, and comply with all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures. Flexible working, including some evenings and weekends, may be required to meet client needs.
Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trust, listen effectively, and interact respectfully with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Practical caregiving experience or a genuine interest in care work, including supporting with personal care, daily living tasks, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Knowledge or experience in dementia care, with an understanding of person-centered approaches and supporting individuals with memory or cognitive needs.
  • Competence or willingness to train in safe manual handling techniques, including using mobility aids and following health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain accurate written records, follow care plans, and adhere to safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
  • Relevant care qualifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent) are desirable but not essential; training can be provided.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays, and willingness to travel within the Leeds area.
