The Greenhouse Kitchen at Blackdown Garden Centre is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Catering Assistant to join our team.

Position Details
- Job Title: Catering Assistant
- Location: The Greenhouse Kitchen, Blackdown Garden Centre
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Flexible rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays as required
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Working Hours: Daytime shifts only
The Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering an excellent experience for our customers. You will be involved in a variety of front-of-house duties, ensuring efficient service and maintaining the high standards expected within The Greenhouse Kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Taking food and drink orders accurately and efficiently
- Serving meals, refreshments, and beverages
- Preparing and serving high-quality coffees, teas, and specialty drinks
- Operating the till and processing customer payments
- Maintaining excellent customer service standards at all times
- Assisting with food preparation and presentation where required
- Clearing and resetting tables promptly
- Keeping customer-facing areas clean, tidy, and well-presented
- Replenishing stock and assisting with displays
- Following food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations
- Supporting the wider catering team with general duties as required
About You

- Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is reliable, punctual, and flexible
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Is willing to learn and develop new skills
- Previous experience in catering, hospitality, retail, or a café environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided
