Job Summary
The CNC Polishing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC-controlled polishing equipment to achieve specified surface finishes on metal or other materials. This role ensures parts meet quality standards for finish, dimensions, and appearance while maintaining productivity and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC polishing machines according to work instructions and specifications
- Load, secure, and align parts or fixtures for accurate polishing
- Select and install appropriate polishing tools, compounds, and abrasives
- Adjust machine parameters such as speed, pressure, feed rates, and polishing cycles
- Monitor operations to ensure consistent surface finish and dimensional integrity
- Inspect finished parts using visual inspection and measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, surface finish gauges)
- Perform deburring, buffing, or secondary finishing as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machines
- Document production output, quality checks, and any issues
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and machine safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience operating CNC machines or polishing/finishing equipment preferred
- Basic understanding of machining processes and surface finishing techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Familiarity with CNC controls and programs is a plus

Physical Requirements

Work Environment
- Manufacturing or production setting
- Exposure to noise, dust, and polishing compounds
- May require ventilation or protective equipment for airborne particles
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Preferred (Optional)
- Experience with automated or robotic polishing systems
- Knowledge of surface finish standards (e.g., Ra values)
- Experience working with metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium
- Familiarity with quality systems in regulated industries (aerospace, medical, automotive)
Pay: $21.00 – $26.00 per hour
