Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking highly experienced Constructability Review Specialist to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Services Division. This critical role focuses on improving project quality, reducing construction risk, minimizing RFIs and change orders, and ensuring construction documents are coordinated, complete, and buildable before projects move into construction.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned construction professional with extensive experience reviewing design documents, identifying conflicts and omissions, providing value engineering recommendations, and supporting successful delivery of large public-sector capital improvement projects.

Position Overview

The Constructability Review Specialist supports Design Managers and Owner Authorized Representatives during the preconstruction phase by reviewing project documents and providing technical expertise to improve constructability, coordination, and overall project execution. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and with minimal construction-related issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining and reviewing Project Requirement Documents, project scope, schedules, and interim housing requirements.
  • Provide value engineering recommendations during early project development.
  • Review architectural and engineering design deliverables to identify inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors, and omissions.
  • Evaluate design documents for constructability and coordination between disciplines.
  • Perform comprehensive constructability reviews of pre-bid construction documents.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Managers, Owner Authorized Representatives, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Help reduce Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, and construction delays through proactive review and recommendations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1 – Architectural Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
  • Fifteen (15) years of full-time professional experience.
  • Ten (10) years serving as a Construction Administrator.
  • Five (5) years serving as a Designer.
  • Construction Administrator experience supporting public or educational facility construction projects.
  • Experience on projects valued at:
  • Single project value of at least $8 million, or
  • Combined project value of at least $80 million.

Option 2 – Construction Management Background

  • Fifteen (15) years of full-time professional experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Experience supporting public/educational facility construction and/or large commercial projects.
  • Full responsibility for coordinating complex construction projects.
  • Experience on:
  • Individual projects exceeding $30 million, and
  • Combined project portfolio value exceeding $400 million.

Education Substitution

  • A minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework from an accredited college, university, or trade school.
  • Five (5) additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of public-sector construction and educational facility programs.
  • Expertise in construction document review and coordination.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing RFIs, RFCs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Ability to identify design conflicts before construction begins.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced project environments.

Pay: $210,000.00 – $225,000.00 per year
