Early Years Kitchen Assistant – Eltham Green Nursery
Salary:
From £14.15 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience).
Location:
Eltham, London.
Work hours:
Part‑time, 8:00‑13:00, Monday‑Thursday (20 hours over 4 days).
Key Responsibilities
- Support the chef in the preparation and cooking of age‑appropriate food for all children.
- Keep waste to a minimum and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.
- Take responsibility for kitchen running in the absence of the chef, ensuring dietary requirements are met and communicated.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in a cooking role, domestic or commercial.
- Passion for nutrition and ability to encourage healthy eating.
- Sound knowledge of managing dietary requirements, especially food allergies.
- Food Safety: CIEH Level 2 or above (or equivalent); must be obtained on day one.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH.
- Great communication skills with colleagues, children and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure.
