Family Support Worker Jobs in Derby, England, United Kingdom at Derbyshire County Council

Title: Family Support Worker

Company: Derbyshire County Council

Location: Derby, England, United Kingdom

Closing date: 21 June 2026

We are looking for a Family Support Worker to join our wonderful team.

We had a recent Ofsted which praised our inclusion and family support and we can’t wait to see what someone else can bring to the table so we can keep improving our Early Help Offer as a school.

As the Family Support Worker, you will work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will also focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning through the role of attendance lead.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with all school staff and a range of outside agencies. Candidates should have some experience of accessing family (early) help services and be familiar with safeguarding support structures. The role will include being a Designated Safeguarding Lead, so already being a DSL or welcoming the training would be a requirement of the role. We currently have 2 other DSLs in school and we meet as a team fortnightly to work together on open cases, meaning it is never on one persons shoulders.

Langley Mill offers great opportunities to candidates wishing to work in a forward looking, effective team of professionals keen to make a difference for our pupils and their families. A post at Langley Mill Infants comes with valuable team support from colleagues, opportunities for professional development and involvement in a school that continues to always want the best for our children and families.

You will have excellent relationship building, creative and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with a wide group of people. You’ll have previous experience of:

  • working and engaging with parents, carers or guardians,
  • working with children through individual and/or group-based support.
  • working in an educational environment.
  • working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn.
  • working with families from diverse communities.

We believe this is an excellent opportunity so we would encourage you to visit our school.  Please call 01773 713429 or email [email protected] to arrange an appointment or to ask about any aspect of the role.
