We’re busy (very busy), we have a loyal client base who expect a premium experience every single visit, and we’re serious about developing the next generation of talent.
And THAT is where you come in.
ABOUT THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME
We’re launching a structured 4‑month Graduate Stylist Programme starting w/c 22nd June, and we have 4 positions available.
This programme is designed for newly qualified stylists who want to bridge the gap between college and a successful career in a high‑end, real‑world salon.
Over 4 months, you’ll get:
- A 3‑day induction into life at The Strand
- 2 days per week working as a Graduate Stylist, doing clients at a discounted rate with full support
- 2 days per week voluntary assisting and shadowing our busy stylists on the salon floor
- Additional Monthly full training days focused on advanced cutting and colouring
- Additional Monthly evening model sessions to build your confidence and portfolio
- A genuine opportunity to secure a permanent stylist role at the end of the programme
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Graduate Stylist days (2 days per week):
- Working on real clients at graduate rates
- Delivering The Strand client experience from consultation to finish
- Building confidence in cutting, colouring and styling with support from the team
- Learning how to manage a column, run on time and rebook clients
Assisting / shadowing days (2 days per week voluntary):
- Shadowing senior stylists and observing consultations and advanced services
- Assisting with colours, shampoos, blow‑dries and finishing
- Helping to keep the salon running smoothly (towels, backwash, stock, set‑ups)
- Asking questions, taking notes and actively learning every day
Training days and evenings (voluntary):
- Attending structured training days in advanced cutting and colouring
- Working on models/blocks with close coaching from our educators
- Taking part in evening model sessions to build your portfolio and speed
THE KIND OF PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’ll recognise yourself in most of this:
- You’re freshly qualified (or nearly qualified) and genuinely LOVE hair
- You’re hungry to learn and want to be pushed to a high standard
- You’re super friendly and love talking to people
- You’re confident (or ready to become confident) on the salon floor
- You’re organised, punctual and take pride in doing things properly
- You’re proactive, you don’t stand around waiting to be told what to do
- You read this and think: “This sounds exactly like me.”
NON‑NEGOTIABLES
- NVQ/VRQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Hairdressing completed or close to completion
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast‑paced environment
- Happy to work 2 days per week and volunteer 2 days per week
- Able to attend all training days and model evenings during the programme
- Reliable, professional and committed to completing the full 4 months
HOURS
- 4 days per week
- 2 days Graduate Stylist column
- 2 days assisting/shadowing voluntary
- Plus scheduled training days and evening model sessions voluntary
