Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a deep understanding of food safety standards. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, managing kitchen staff and controlling food costs. This role requires creativity, leadership and strong organisational skills to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative menus, in line with restaurant standards and customer preferences
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes served
  • Manage food preparation and cooking activities, maintaining high standards of presentation and taste
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, including scheduling and performance monitoring
  • Monitor food inventory, order supplies and control kitchen costs
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation regulations at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area according to health and safety guidelines
  • Develop new recipes and seasonal dishes
  • Coordinate with restaurant management regarding operations and customer feedback
  • Handle kitchen equipment maintenance and report repair needs
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals during service
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience as Head Chef, Sous Chef, or similar role
  • Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and food safety practices
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Creativity in menu planning and presentation
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation standards
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
  • Culinary certification or diploma preferred
