Role Description
We're seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to join our growing creative business on a part-time (3–4 days per week), hybrid basis.
This hands-on leadership role combines day-to-day financial management with strategic business partnering. Working closely with the senior management team, you'll oversee finance operations, cashflow, forecasting and reporting, while helping drive business performance, profitability and sustainable growth.
You'll be equally comfortable managing invoices, payroll and financial controls as you are providing commercial insight, improving processes and supporting long-term business planning.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred)
- Significant experience in a senior finance role, such as Head of Finance, Financial Controller or similar
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Experience using Xero and cloud-based finance systems
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced business environment
- Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience within a creative, design, production or project-based business is advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial records and efficient operations
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, pensions and financial controls
- Oversee weekly cashflow forecasting, budgeting and financial planning
- Produce monthly management accounts and provide clear business performance insights
- Partner with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and growth initiatives
- Monitor project profitability, studio performance and key business KPIs
- Liaise with UK and US accountants, banks, legal advisers and other external partners
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and support year-end reporting processes
- Drive improvements to financial systems, reporting and operational processes
- Help build scalable finance processes to support the studio's continued growth and success
