Hotel Receptionist Jobs in London at Lime Tree Hotel
Full Job Description
The Lime Tree Hotel is an independent boutique hotel set within a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse in the heart of Belgravia, just moments from the artisan boutiques and cafés of Elizabeth Street.
With 26 individually designed bedrooms, a tranquil Secret Garden and our popular café, The Buttery, we are known for our warm, personal service and attention to detail. Our guests choose us for our character, calm atmosphere and the genuine connections we create.
We are proud to have been included in The Sunday Times Top 100 British Hotels and Condé Nast Traveller’s 10 Best Hotels in London.
Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and engaging Receptionist to join our team. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where personality, warmth and initiative are just as important as experience.
As the first and last point of contact, you will play a key role in shaping each guest’s experience. This is not a standard reception role. You will be actively engaging with guests throughout their stay, assisting with luggage across multiple floors, and delivering a highly personalised level of service that reflects the unique character of our hotel.
Who We Are Looking For
We are less focused on formal experience and more interested in the right personality. The ideal candidate will be:
- Naturally warm, engaging and confident with guests
- Proactive, with a genuine desire to go above and beyond
- Reliable, responsible and comfortable working independently
- A strong communicator with an excellent level of English
- Ideally fluent in a second language such as French, Spanish, Italian, German or Dutch
- Confident handling payments and making decisions when needed
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role, including carrying luggage across multiple floors
- Familiar with Opera Cloud or another PMS system (preferred but not essential)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a warm, personal welcome to every guest, creating an immediate sense of comfort and familiarity
- Actively engage with guests throughout their stay, building rapport and anticipating their needs
- Assist guests with luggage up and down three floors, ensuring a smooth and thoughtful arrival and departure experience
- Provide tailored, insider recommendations for Belgravia and London, helping guests make the most of their visit
- Manage check-ins and check-outs with efficiency, accuracy and a relaxed, personable approach
- Take ownership of the guest journey, from pre-arrival communication through to departure
- Proactively enhance the guest experience through small gestures and attention to detail
- Maintain a visible and engaging presence in front of house areas, including The Buttery and Secret Garden
- Respond to emails, calls and guest enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Support the wider hotel operation when required, including light assistance in The Buttery and coordination with Housekeeping
- Handle guest feedback and resolve any issues with care, empathy and confidence
- Ensure reception and public areas remain clean, organised and reflective of the hotel’s standards
- Accurately manage guest information and preferences within Opera Cloud or similar systems
Experience
- A passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences is essential
- Previous reception or customer-facing experience is beneficial but not required
- Strong communication skills and professional phone manner
- Highly organised with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Personality is key for this role. We are looking for someone our guests will remember.
