Interim Fleet and Workshop Manager (CPC Qualified – Transport Management Experience)
Fixed Term – 6 Months
Salary: £51,062.11 – £53,013.59 (40 hours per week)
HTS (Property & Environment) Ltd is seeking an experienced Fleet and Workshop Manager to provide interim leadership and stability to our transport and workshop functions.
This is a key role within the Environmental Services team, responsible for ensuring the effective, compliant and efficient management of our fleet, vehicle workshops and associated resources. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record in managing workshop operations, maintaining compliance standards and driving service performance across a mixed fleet environment.
While the organisation currently retains external support for Operator Licence compliance, this role requires a candidate who is CPC qualified with proven transport management knowledge and experience, capable of supporting compliance frameworks and contributing to ongoing operational assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of vehicle and plant workshops, ensuring safe, efficient and well-organised service delivery
- Maintain robust fleet compliance across LGV and wider fleet operations, including inspections, servicing, MOTs and defect management
- Ensure strong systems, controls and record-keeping are in place to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Manage and optimise fleet availability, minimising downtime and ensuring effective support to front-line services
- Oversee workshop staff, employees, contractors and suppliers, ensuring high standards of performance, safety and accountability
- Implement effective planning processes to ensure workload is delivered efficiently and resources are utilised effectively
- Manage performance reporting, stock control, KPIs and operational data to support continuous improvement
- Liaise with the organisation’s external transport compliance provider to support ongoing Operator Licence compliance arrangements
- Provide professional advice on fleet management, vehicle maintenance and operational best practice
About You
You will be an experienced fleet or transport professional with a strong background in managing workshops and operational fleet services.
You will bring:
- Proven experience managing fleet operations and/or vehicle workshops
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, compliance and inspection regimes
- Experience of leading teams, managing performance and delivering operational improvements
- A robust understanding of transport compliance requirements and associated systems
- A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management,
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, operational environment with changing priorities

This is a fixed-term position providing interim cover. The role requires a high level of professional competence and the ability to ensure continuity and resilience within fleet and transport operations.
