Overview
A UK-based private equity firm investing in founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses across a range of sectors is seeking an Investment Associate to join its London team. The firm has an established track record of partnering with management teams to support growth, operational improvement and strategic development.
With a strong pipeline of new opportunities and an active portfolio, this hire will work closely with senior investment professionals across all stages of the investment lifecycle. The role carries significant responsibility and offers broad exposure to origination, execution and portfolio management within a generalist investment mandate, with direct interaction with management teams, advisors and portfolio company stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the assessment and execution of new investment opportunities, including financial analysis, valuation and commercial assessment.
- Build and maintain integrated financial models to evaluate investment returns, capital structures and downside scenarios.
- Prepare investment papers, internal approval materials and presentations for investment committee discussions.
- Conduct market, industry and company research to support investment screening, thematic work and deal origination activities.
- Coordinate and support commercial, financial, legal and operational due diligence processes on live transactions.
- Assist with transaction structuring, negotiations and execution, working alongside management teams and external advisors.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, analyse operating and financial results, and contribute to value creation initiatives.
- Support portfolio company management teams on strategic projects, acquisitions, financing activities and business planning.
- Contribute to fundraising, investor reporting and broader firm-wide initiatives as required.
Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience within private equity, investment banking, corporate finance or a comparable analytical environment.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and accounting skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess businesses across multiple sectors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated interest in private equity investing and supporting businesses through long-term growth and value creation.
Why This Role Stands Out
This position offers genuine breadth across the full investment lifecycle within a private equity firm that takes an active, partnership-oriented approach to working with its portfolio companies. Associates gain direct exposure to management teams and advisors from an early stage, with meaningful involvement in both deal execution and portfolio value creation rather than a narrowly defined remit.
The generalist mandate and focus on founder-led businesses means Associates engage with a diverse range of sectors and business models, making this a strong platform for those looking to develop well-rounded private equity skills.
Application Process
Candidates with the relevant background are encouraged to apply directly. Given the seniority and specificity of the role, applications should reflect demonstrable experience in financial modelling, transaction execution and commercial analysis.
