IT System Administrator Jobs in City Of London, England, United Kingdom at Ivana Franka Consulting Ltd
Title: IT System Administrator
Company: Ivana Franka Consulting Ltd
Location: City Of London, England, United Kingdom
Location: London (hybrid, 3 to 5 days on-site)
Salary: £40-75k
Clearance: Must hold, or be eligible for UK security clearance
The role
A hands-on role running the day-to-day IT for a small, regulated, security-sensitive organisation. The estate is cloud-first: Microsoft 365 and self-hosted services on AWS. You own the operational estate end to end: Microsoft 365 and identity, end-user devices, the office network, and frontline support. The AWS platform is built and run by the platform team; on those systems you are the service administrator, not the server administrator. Strategy, budgets, risk, policy, compliance, vendor selection, and people management sit with the CIO; keeping the estate running reliably and securely is yours.
Responsibilities
Support and operations
- Act as the first point of contact for IT issues and requests, resolving L1 to L2 incidents end to end and escalating only what genuinely needs it.
- Own the queue: log, prioritise, and close incidents and service requests, and keep users informed as you go.
- Keep operational documentation and asset records accurate and current.
Microsoft 365 and identity
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID: mailboxes, groups, licensing, and core services.
- Integrate self-hosted applications with Entra ID for single sign-on.
- Run joiner, mover, and leaver processes: provisioning, access changes, and clean offboarding.
- Design, implement, and improve granular, least-privilege access controls across all services.
- Resolve authentication, access, and account issues.
End-user devices
- Build, configure, and deploy Windows and macOS devices, plus Android and iOS mobiles, all managed through Intune.
- Get new starters fully operational on day one: device, accounts, peripherals, and mobile.
- Set up and support meeting-room and AV equipment, and keep devices patched and up to date.
Office network
- Own the office network: routing, switching, cabling and patching, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Security and compliance
- Implement and maintain security controls across identity, devices, and network.
- Administer Sophos for endpoint protection and threat response across managed devices.
- Support Cyber Essentials Plus and the move towards ISO 27001: access reviews, audit evidence, and remediation.
- Handle sensitive systems and data with discretion.
Process improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve IT services, tooling, and processes, and put the case forward for them.
- Lead approved improvements end to end: plan, implement, document, and embed into business-as-usual.
- Look for repetitive operational work to automate or simplify, freeing time for higher-value work.
Your first three months
By the end of your first three months, you should have:
- Taken on day-to-day IT support as the first point of contact, with the wider team behind you.
- Become self-sufficient across the core estate: Microsoft 365, Intune, identity, and the office network.
- Audited the current ITSM estate: tooling, processes, assets, and where support breaks down today.
- Identified the gaps and the highest-value areas to improve.
- Recommended a proper ITSM approach: a defined support process and a ticketing system to run it on.
Training and Development
- £2,000 annual training allowance.
- Ongoing mentoring and guidance from the CIO.
- Support for Microsoft training and certifications.
Benefits
- Employer pension contribution.
- Private health insurance and gym membership after probation.
- Hybrid working model, minimum three days per week in the London office – preferably 4-5
Additional Information
- Occasional travel to other company sites may be required.
- Some out-of-hours work may be necessary for maintenance or senior user support.
- Background checks will be conducted in line with company policy.
