Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team in delivering high-quality food services within a Care Home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, as well as the delivery of food to residents rooms and serving in the day rooms. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in catering, cooking, and serving within a professional setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and food presentation under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
- Support food safety protocols by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in all areas of the kitchen
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including peeling, chopping, and measuring
- Help with the organisation and restocking of kitchen supplies and ingredients
- Serve food to residents and staff as required, ensuring proper presentation and portion control
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or restaurant environment is essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is essential
- Basic cooking skills or culinary experience are essential
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including weekends if necessary
