The Institute of Performing Arts of Modeling (IPAM) is a specialized institution in Sri Lanka dedicated to professional training in modeling and fashion. The Faculty of Modeling is based at No. 78, Havelock Road, Colombo 05, providing focused education and practical exposure for aspiring models. The Faculty of Fashion operates from No. 15, Green Path, Colombo 07, supporting students interested in fashion, styling, and related creative fields. Together, these faculties offer a collaborative environment where performance, presentation, and fashion education intersect. IPAM works closely with industry partners to create pathways into local and international modeling and fashion opportunities.

Role Description

The Model Casting Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Colombo, responsible for overseeing and coordinating casting activities for modeling projects, runway shows, campaigns, and training events. This role includes sourcing and evaluating talent from IPAM’s student body and external applicants, organizing and conducting casting calls, and selecting models according to project requirements and brand guidelines. The Model Casting Director will collaborate closely with faculty, photographers, stylists, designers, and external clients to ensure effective talent placement and smooth execution of shoots and shows.A The role also involves providing feedback and guidance to emerging models, supporting their professional development, and upholding IPAM’s standards of professionalism, inclusivity, and ethical practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience in model casting, talent coordination, or fashion show production, ideally within modeling schools, agencies, or fashion organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the fashion and modeling industry, including runway, print, commercial, and digital campaigns.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and schedules simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with diverse groups of learners and professionals.
  • Proven ability to assess talent objectively and match models to specific creative and client requirements.
  • Comfort with on-site, event-based work, including occasional evenings or weekends during shows, rehearsals, and photo shoots.
  • Proficiency with basic office software and talent databases; familiarity with digital portfolios, casting platforms, or social media scouting is an advantage.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching emerging talent, particularly in posing, presentation, and professional behavior, is preferred.
  • Ability to uphold inclusive, non-discriminatory casting practices that reflect IPAM’s commitment to equal opportunity and respect for all individuals.
  • Relevant education or training in fashion, performing arts, communications, or a related field is beneficial
