Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Assistant Cook to join our team. This role involves preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in a caring and hygienic environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and experience working in a kitchen or catering setting. Duties
- Prepare and serve healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
- Assist with meal planning and ensure all food is stored, prepared, and presented hygienically
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
- Follow food safety regulations at all times to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Support the organisation of food supplies and stock levels, ensuring ingredients are fresh and available when needed
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies
- Assist in the supervision of children during meal times, promoting good manners and social skills
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking within a professional kitchen, catering service, or restaurant environment is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is essential
- Experience working with children or in a childcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory
- Skills in meal preparation, cooking, and serving are highly valued
- Familiarity with culinary techniques and kitchen equipment will be beneficial for success in this role
