One full time Band 5 Orthoptist job opportunity has arisen. Our patient cohort encompasses large numbers of difficult conditions which are often seen in specialist clinics including retinoblastoma, paediatric cataract, uveitis, glaucoma, neuroophthalmology, cilliopathy and rare diabetes, retinal, craniofacial, contact lens, inherited metabolic diseases. As a result we have embraced the extended diagnostic support role of the Orthoptist to include IOP pressure measurement, Fundus and digital photography, contact lens insertion and removal management and Orthoptic lead medical clinics.
Depending on experience, you will be expected to participate in general Orthoptic, Refraction, and Medic clinics. You will be involved in the diagnostic support role and you will also have the opportunity to be involved in the departments training of pre- registration optometrists, medical students and other health professionals. We offer a preceptorship/mentorship package to the successful applicants tailored to their requirements.
CPD is actively promoted within the department and time is provided for administrative duties.
