Job Summary
We are looking for a caring, passionate and reliable Cook/Chef to join our friendly team within our family-run care home. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who enjoys preparing home-cooked meals, takes pride in presentation, and wants to make a genuine difference to residents’ daily lives.
At our home, food is a huge part of creating comfort, happiness and routine for our residents from traditional favourites to beautifully presented homemade desserts and themed dining days.
We are particularly looking for somebody who can bring fresh ideas, creativity and enthusiasm into the kitchen. We welcome candidates who enjoy trying new ingredients, improving presentation, introducing new menu ideas and helping us continue to enhance the dining experience for our residents. We want somebody who is passionate about food and excited to contribute their own ideas and personality to the role.
We are also currently teaming up with a new food supplier and have a taster and development day booked for 16th July, so this is an exciting opportunity for somebody who would like to be involved in shaping and improving our future menus and dining experience from the beginning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh meals, desserts and snacks to a high standard
- Support menu planning and contribute ideas for seasonal and themed meals
- Ensure all dietary requirements and nutritional needs are met
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Follow all food safety procedures and temperature checks
- Manage stock rotation, deliveries and kitchen organisation
- Work efficiently during busy meal service periods
- Help create a warm, positive dining experience for residents
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a cook, chef or in a catering/kitchen environment
- A passion for home cooking and food presentation
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Organised, reliable and hardworking
- A caring and patient nature
- Experience within a care home setting is beneficial but not essential

This role is currently part-time, however hours are expected to increase over time as we continue to grow and develop the role. We may also be able to offer additional hours within other areas of the home if desired.
