Pastry Junior Sous Chef (4-Day Work Week)

Southwest Denver Metro$21–$23/hour (based on experience)

We are a high-volume, production-focused bakery supplying six Corvus Coffee locations and preparing to open a sourdough-driven flagship bakery. This role is designed for a pastry professional ready to step into leadership while remaining highly engaged in daily production.

As a Pastry Junior Sous Chef, you will balance hands-on production with leadership responsibilities, helping ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across the pastry program.

Schedule

  • Saturday–Tuesday, Set Schedule unless otherwise to balance PTO requests
  • 4-day work week (~40 hours)
  • Shifts:
  • Saturday: 11:00am – 9:30pm
  • Sunday–Tuesday: 9:00am – 7:30pm
  • Schedule may adjust occasionally to cover team vacations or business needs
  • Must be available to work weekends and adapt schedule as needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily pastry production: laminated doughs, sourdough breads, cakes, custards, cookies, and specialty items
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all products
  • Train and support team members on production techniques and workflow
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
  • Own daily prep tasks and manage time effectively during shifts
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and maintaining pars
  • Support food cost tracking and updates as needed
  • Assist with prep planning and production organization
  • Support scheduling and labor management alongside the Chef
  • Provide direct, in-the-moment feedback to team members to maintain standards
  • Assist with bakery deliveries if needed
  • Uphold the culture, values, and standards of Corvus Coffee

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of pastry experience (bakery, restaurant, hotel, or patisserie)
  • Strong technical foundation: laminated doughs, sourdough breads, cakes, custards, and core pastry techniques
  • Experience in high-volume production environments preferred
  • Leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math and computer skills (including spreadsheets)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Clean driving record (if assisting with deliveries)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods (up to 10–12 hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently move trays up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to bend, reach, and work in a physically demanding kitchen environment
