London PrimeVets is a modern, independent small animal practice in the heart of Canada Water. We’re passionate about delivering exceptional veterinary care and outstanding customer service, and we’re looking for a friendly, caring and enthusiastic Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to help us provide the very best experience for our patients and clients.

This is a varied role combining reception and client care with hands-on patient care, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with both people and animals. You’ll work alongside a supportive team in a modern, purpose-built practice with separate dog and cat facilities, an in-house laboratory, digital imaging and a fully equipped surgical theatre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, welcoming clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to emails, book appointments and manage the appointment diary.
  • Process payments, register new clients and maintain accurate clinical records using the practice management system.
  • Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with patient care and clinical procedures.
  • Provide excellent care for hospitalised patients, including feeding, walking, cleaning and monitoring.
  • Safely restrain patients during examinations and treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain consultation rooms, treatment areas and theatre.
  • Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, equipment and the practice to a high standard.
  • Prepare and process laboratory samples under the supervision of the clinical team.
  • Restock clinical supplies and assist with stock management.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, working collaboratively with the whole team.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working in a veterinary practice (preferred but not essential).
  • Has a genuine passion for animal welfare and patient care.
  • Enjoys providing excellent customer service and building relationships with clients.
  • Is compassionate, reliable and motivated.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is confident handling dogs and cats.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of £28,000–£31,000 DOE.
  • 28 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • Staff discount on veterinary services and products.
  • Workplace pension.
  • Paid CPD and ongoing career development.
  • Uniform provided.
  • A friendly, supportive and collaborative team where everyone’s contribution is valued.
  • The opportunity to grow with a modern, independent practice that encourages learning, new ideas and professional development.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Shifts between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • 1 in 4 weekends, with time off in lieu.

If you’re passionate about animal care, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of an independent practice where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please send us your CV and a short covering letter explaining why you’d like to join the London PrimeVets team.
