A Rare Opportunity to Lead, Build and Grow a High-Performance Independent Pharmacy

Mottingham Healthcare Ltd is seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, and commercially driven Pharmacist Manager to take full leadership of Mottingham Pharmacy. This is not a standard management role — this is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of a growing, service-led pharmacy and play a pivotal role in shaping its future performance, culture, and clinical offering.

Following recent acquisition and investment into the site, we are looking for a strong leader who is ready to take responsibility for delivering both clinical excellence and commercial success, while building and developing a high-performing pharmacy team.

This role will suit an ambitious pharmacist who is not only clinically competent but also business-minded, proactive, and driven to grow services, revenue, and patient engagement.

We are looking for an individual with the right attitude—someone who possesses the clinical excellence of a pharmacist and the strategic mindset of an entrepreneur.

The Role

As Pharmacy Manager, you will have full responsibility for the operational, clinical, and commercial performance of the pharmacy. You will lead from the front, setting standards, driving service delivery, and ensuring the pharmacy operates as a modern, patient-focused healthcare hub. As the store manager and clinical lead, you will report directly to the Director and Chief Operating Officer, ensuring the pharmacy operates at the pinnacle of GPhC standards while exceeding commercial targets.

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, making key decisions, managing performance, and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Dispensary Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of prescription processing, ensuring accuracy, legality, and patient safety at all times
  • Clinically check prescriptions and provide professional counselling to patients
  • Ensure full compliance with GPhC standards and pharmacy SOPs
  • Investigate and learn from dispensing errors and near misses
  • Maintain controlled drug registers and ensure regulatory compliance

NHS Services & Performance Delivery

  • Deliver and exceed all NHS Essential, Advanced, and Enhanced Services
  • Drive Pharmacy First, Hypertension Case Finding, and other commissioned services
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to NHSBSA
  • Maintain full compliance with NHS contractual frameworks and governance

Private Services & PGD Growth

  • Lead the delivery and expansion of private PGD services
  • Actively promote services such as travel health, vaccinations, and clinical screenings
  • Identify new service opportunities and implement growth strategies
  • Ensure all team members are trained to promote and support services effectively

Commercial & Retail Performance

  • Take full ownership of OTC sales, margin optimisation, and merchandising
  • Drive revenue through both NHS and private income streams
  • Manage stock efficiently to reduce waste and improve availability
  • Maintain a professional, healthcare-focused retail environment

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing pharmacy team
  • Manage rotas, staffing levels, and recruitment where required
  • Ensure staff are trained, competent, and aligned with business objectives
  • Create a culture of accountability, professionalism, and performance

Operational & Business Management

  • Monitor and improve financial performance of the pharmacy
  • Manage supplier relationships and purchasing strategies
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, reporting, and payroll submissions
  • Take full responsibility for day-to-day operations and service continuity

What We Are Looking For

We are not simply looking for a pharmacist — we are looking for a leader.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • GPhC registration (essential)
  • Strong experience in pharmacy management and team leadership
  • A service-driven mindset with a clear focus on NHS and private service delivery
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to drive revenue and performance
  • Confidence, resilience, and the ability to lead from the front
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A desire to build and develop a pharmacy business, not just manage it

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary (£60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience)
  • Structured training and development, including PGDs and private services
  • Genuine opportunity to grow with an expanding independent pharmacy group
  • Autonomy to lead and shape the direction of the pharmacy
  • Support from experienced ownership and senior management
  • A performance-driven environment where ambition is recognised and rewarded
