Project Manager – Architectural Metalwork & Structural Steel
A specialist architectural metalwork contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of multiple projects from initial award through to successful completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and technically capable Project Manager with experience in architectural metalwork, structural steel, or bespoke fabrication projects. The successful candidate will oversee projects through design coordination, fabrication, and installation while acting as the key point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing multiple live projects simultaneously, ensuring programmes, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently achieved.
Working closely with clients, architects, engineers, workshop teams, and site operatives, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, and public sector projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple architectural metalwork and steelwork projects concurrently from inception to completion.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, structural engineers, and main contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, procurement schedules, and cost reports.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, and design coordination activities.
- Oversee the handover of design and detailing information to fabrication teams.
- Coordinate fabrication priorities and manage subcontractors where required.
- Plan and supervise site installations, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and review RAMS, method statements, and installation logistics plans.
- Attend site surveys, progress meetings, and client meetings.
- Manage project variations, valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and commercial performance.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience managing architectural metalwork, structural steel, or bespoke fabrication projects.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and installation methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and contract administration.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS Card (essential).
- SMSTS certification (preferred).
- Experience working within architectural metalwork or specialist subcontracting environments.
