Job Title: Retail & Customer Service Assistant
Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour
Working Pattern: Wednesday, Thursday (10-5) and Saturday (10-2) although some flexibility would be required.
Location: 161 Brooke Street, Broughty Ferry, Dundee, DD5 1DJ
Role Overview:
Select Wallpapers Ltd are looking for an individual who is passionate about art, home décor, and design. You will be a motivated and detail-oriented individual who can assist our customers with wallpaper, fabric selections, and colour pallets. Manage enquiries, process orders, support the day-to-day administration and handle online orders and fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Assist customers by understanding their requirements, helping them choose suitable wallpaper and fabric collections
- Provide guidance on design, colour coordination, and basic decorating advice
- Handle customer enquiries via email and phone, including preparing and sending quotes
Order Processing & Administration
- Process sample orders, including preparing and posting mail
- Use internal computer systems and admin systems to update orders, add notes, and communicate key updates
- Manage and track outstanding orders, following up with suppliers and updating customers on delays
- Use multiple brand portals (approx. 40 suppliers) to place orders and check stock availability
Dispatch & Logistics
- Pack and dispatch daily orders
- Organise and distribute incoming mail and samples
- Ensure timely handling of outstanding orders and requests
General Duties
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge across textile brands and collections
- Ensure all work is checked thoroughly for accuracy and completeness
- Support additional tasks as required within the business.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential Skills
- Previous retail or customer service experience
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload efficiently
- Ability to problem-solve and handle customer complaints professionally
- Confident in handling phone and email communication
Desirable Skills
- Interest in home décor, interiors, textiles, or design
- Basic knowledge of measuring and decorating guidance

Training & Development
Full training will be provided. We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for the role. Additional hours may become available for the right candidate.
