Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Salary: £12,487.97 – £12,544.66 per annum (actual salary)

Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme

This post is offered on a fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave. The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Job Coach to support young people and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities to prepare for, secure and succeed in employment. In this rewarding role, you will work directly with students and interns both in college and in the workplace, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to thrive in real-world job settings. You will provide tailored, hands-on support using structured coaching techniques, work closely with employers to create inclusive environments, and help learners build essential employability skills. This is a practical, people-focused role where you will support learners in the workplace, track their progress and collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support and coach people with learning difficulties and disabilities into and at work using systematic instruction techniques to teach roles and tasks.
  • Work with external stakeholders and employers to understand reasonable adjustments are and accommodations to create a supportive and inclusive workplace for interns.
  • Educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities and provide ongoing support and consultation.
  • Continually assess each young person both formally and informally to create an adaptable, personalised vocational profile and contribute to individual learning plans.

Qualifications

  • To have a relevant Level 3 qualification (or above) relating to children, young people and adults with SEND.
  • Accredited training via BASE relating to Supported Employment Techniques and/or Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) (desirable).
  • GCSEs at Level 4/Grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working with children, young people and adults with SEND in education and/or wider contexts such as health and social care.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a multi-layered team to collaborate on best outcomes and opportunities for children, young people and adults with SEND.
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked with Supported Internship provision (desirable).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Evidence of disseminating good practice effectively.
  • The ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
