We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team within a care home specialising in senior care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, supervisory experience, and excellent communication abilities. The Senior Health Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising care staff, developing and implementing care plans, and ensuring the highest standards of personalised care are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support junior care staff to deliver high-quality care services to residents
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Provide direct personal care to residents, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns promptly
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times
- Lead by example in delivering compassionate, respectful, and dignified care
- Maintain accurate documentation using IT systems for record-keeping and reporting purposes
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members to ensure coordinated care delivery
- Support the organisation’s activities and programmes aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life
- Drive organisational initiatives related to continuous improvement in care standards
Requirements
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience within a care home or senior care setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in developing and managing care plans tailored to individual needs
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting residents or attending external appointments
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to adult social care environments
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in providing exceptional senior care
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
