Specialist Skills Trainer Jobs in Ballymena at Pilgrim’s Europe
We are looking for a Specialist Skills Trainer to join our Production team in Pilgrim’s Europe – at Ballymena.
Reporting to the Site Training Lead, you will co-ordinate, track and deliver all job specific and key skills training required for an assigned area or shift. Duties will include an introduction to the department when a colleague joins or transfers into to a new role, ensuring completion of and competency against job specific SOPs, refresher training and updates and ad hoc training as required.
The hours of work for the role will be Full Time Monday – Friday 06:00 – 14:30, however flexibility will be required to cover weekends or evenings as required in line with needs of the department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Pathway to Performance-will co-ordinate, deliver and monitor all training as identified within the Pathway to Performance, this will include:
- Assist with initial induction/orientation of new colleagues into the department to ensuring they are comfortable in their new environment and understand expectations on them as well as rules and regulations relating to their role/area of work.
- Liaise with Training Department/Operation Managers on progress of new starts
- Complete Ad Hoc projects as require or as directed by the Site Training Lead /Operation Manager
- Assist with the maintenance of core SOPs ensuring the most recent revised version is being adhered to and document controlled accordingly, liaising with all key stakeholders as necessary. Ensure SOPs are trained out to plan and matrix is within agreed completion rates
- Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure changes in operations are reflected in training materials being delivered, updating SOPs accordingly
- Assist with the assessment of competency of new colleagues as required, this could be throughout their probationary review period or at any stage in employment
- Maintain a Training Plan for your assigned area of responsibility outlining and agreeing a plan with your department/Operation Manager
- Work as part of the production team, in varying roles in order to maintain skill levels and understanding in all roles/employees within your area of responsibility
- To effectively communicate with all relevant stakeholders about ongoing training e.g. Production, Site Support Functions, Specialist Skills Trainers, Site Training Validator, Site Training Lead.
- Liaise with Site Training Lead/ Site Training Validator to ascertain inductees/other colleagues requiring trained
- Contribute to KPIs in a timely manner to those concerned (as required)
- Ensure all probationary paperwork is signed off as required in a timely manner
- Ensure all training is recorded and submitted to the training matrix
- Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary

- People management not part of role
- Optimise energy usage, looking at opportunities for energy reduction and carbon footprint reduction.
To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc
What are we looking for;
Essential;
- Have experience with and be multi-skilled in key skill roles within a department /unit
- Confident in using a PC, especially Microsoft packages
- Assertive with excellent people skills
- Organised
- Ability to develop and design creative solutions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak the English Language
Desirable;
- Professional trainers’ certificate
- Working towards a CIPD training qualification i.e. Certificate in training practice
- Intermediate /advanced food safety qualification
- Experience in internal auditing
- Driving licence
- HACCP
- Experience in a food factory/production environment
- Have experience with and be multi-skilled in key skill roles within a department /unit
