Pay: $20–$28 per hour, depending on experience, reliability, driver’s license, and skill level

Job Overview
The Key Gardener is looking for a reliable Support Technician / Landscape Install Crew Member to join our landscape installation crew.
This position supports our Operations Technician / Landscape Install Crew Leader in completing high-quality landscape installation and outdoor construction work on high-end residential properties.
This is not a basic mowing position. This role is for someone who has hands-on landscape, hardscape, irrigation, fencing, grading, stone work, or outdoor construction experience and wants steady work with an organized company.
Our install work may include full landscape installations, grading, planting, sod, stone work, pavers, fencing, decks, drainage, irrigation support, hardscape support, lighting support, site preparation, and cleanup.
Crews meet each morning at our Sarasota shop location at 1001 Sinclair Drive, off Hill Road, then travel to project sites throughout Sarasota, Casey Key, Nokomis, and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Sarasota shop by 6:30 AM, ready to work
- Support the Operations Technician / Crew Leader in daily field work
- Help load and organize trucks, trailers, tools, equipment, and materials
- Assist with landscape installation projects from start to finish
- Install plants, trees, sod, soil, mulch, stone, edging, and landscape materials
- Help with grading, drainage, site preparation, digging, trenching, and cleanup
- Assist with fencing, decks, pavers, stone work, and hardscape-related projects
- Support irrigation installation, repairs, adjustments, and related work as needed
- Assist with landscape lighting support when needed
- Use hand tools, power tools, wheelbarrows, compactors, saws, and other job-site equipment
- Keep trucks, tools, materials, and job sites clean and organized
- Follow direction from the Operations Technician and management
- Work safely and respectfully around high-end homes, clients, property managers, and other trades
- Take care of company tools, trucks, equipment, and materials
- Take pride in quality work and clean finished results
Requirements
- Landscape installation, hardscape, irrigation, fencing, deck, grading, stone work, or outdoor construction experience preferred
- Must be reliable and able to report to the Sarasota shop on time
- Must be comfortable working outside in Florida weather
- Must be able to lift, carry, dig, shovel, grade, plant, and perform physical work
- Must be able to follow direction and work as part of a crew
- Must be willing to work in an organized company system
- Must care about clean job sites, organized tools, and finished details
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience with compactors, saws, skid steers, mini skid steers, trailers, or other equipment is a plus
Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role is dependable, practical, and experienced with hands-on outdoor work.
You should be comfortable on landscape installation job sites, able to use tools, follow direction, stay productive, and help the crew complete work cleanly and professionally.
You do not need to be the crew leader, but you should be a strong support person who helps the Operations Technician keep the job moving.
This role may be a good fit for someone with experience as a landscape installer, hardscape helper, irrigation helper, equipment operator assistant, fencing/deck helper, outdoor construction worker, or experienced landscape crew member.
Pay
Pay is based on experience, reliability, driver’s license, equipment experience, and ability to support installation work efficiently and professionally.
Experienced candidates with a valid driver’s license, strong field skills, equipment experience, or broad landscape installation experience may qualify for higher pay.
