We are currently seeking an Experienced Nursery Caretaker to join our wean-to-finish operation.
Position Overview
The Nursery Herdsman will be responsible for the daily care and management of approximately 6,000 nursery pigs while maintaining high standards of animal welfare, barn performance, and facility upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Daily observation and care of nursery pigs
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed
- Monitor pigs for signs of illness and implement treatment protocols
- Maintain accurate production and health records
- Ensure proper ventilation, temperature, and environmental conditions
- Coordinate feed orders and monitor feed usage
- Perform routine barn maintenance and repairs
- Assist with general facility upkeep and biosecurity procedures
Qualifications
- Previous swine production experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and animal observation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license required
- Commitment to animal welfare and responsible livestock care
