Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. This role involves supporting the efficient movement, storage, and management of goods within our warehouse facility. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining high standards of safety, and contributing to overall warehouse productivity.
Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in materials handling, stock management, and warehouse operations.
Duties
- Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading lorries using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
- Operating warehouse management systems to track inventory levels, record movements, and update stock data accurately.
- Picking and packing orders according to specified requirements to ensure timely dispatch.
- Stocking shelves and organising stock within the warehouse to optimise space utilisation.
- Conducting quality control checks to verify the accuracy and condition of goods received or dispatched.
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including preparing goods for transport and verifying incoming deliveries.
- Performing mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance or minor repairs as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times during daily activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for all necessary procedures.
- Knowledge of materials handling techniques and safe lifting practices, including heavy lifting when required.
- Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse machinery is desirable but not essential; training can be provided where necessary.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar software is beneficial.
- Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for basic repairs is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for picking, packing, and stock management tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good physical fitness to handle manual tasks such as load & unload activities throughout the shift.
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include early mornings or late evenings depending on operational needs.
