Please note: As this opportunity is being offered as an internal secondment, the successful candidate will remain in their substantive role whilst undertaking the Welsh Development Manager position. Salary will be apportioned according to the hours worked in each role, with Welsh Development Manager hours paid at Grade 10 and remaining hours paid at the salary applicable to the employee’s substantive post.
An Exciting Internal Development Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to provide maternity cover for the Welsh Development Manager role and play a leading part in shaping and delivering ACT’s Welsh Language Strategy across the ACT Network.

Working within the Quality Team, you will lead and coordinate Welsh language activities across ACT, supporting continuous improvement, organisational compliance and the achievement of Welsh Government priorities. You will work closely with colleagues, managers, practitioners and external stakeholders to strengthen Welsh language provision, develop staff confidence and skills, and promote Welsh culture throughout the learner and employee experience.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their leadership, project management and strategic planning experience while making a significant contribution to ACT’s Welsh language journey.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of ACT’s Welsh Language Strategy and related improvement plans
- Promote Welsh language and culture across ACT through innovative initiatives, events and engagement activities
- Support managers, practitioners and partner organisations to embed Welsh language opportunities throughout the learner journey
- Coordinate Welsh language development activities across the ACT Network and partner providers
- Monitor performance against Welsh language targets, analysing data and producing reports to support continuous improvement
- Manage Welsh language budgets and oversee translation processes and bilingual resource development
- Build and maintain positive relationships with external organisations including Welsh Government, Estyn, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and the National Centre for Learning Welsh
- Support staff development and engagement through Welsh language learning opportunities and awareness activities
- Act as ACT’s key point of contact for Welsh language matters
