Job Overview
Our Client is a full service civil engineering firm located in Salt Lake county. They are in need of an experienced full-time civil inspector to perform conformance/non-conformance inspections and observations on construction jobsites at various locations in Utah, Wyoming and/or Colorado. Sites may include: electrical substations or transmission lines, residential or commercial developments, wind or gas energy sites, and future development areas.
Inspections and observations may include: soil compaction testing, concrete testing, foundation excavation and reinforcement inspections, construction compliance with plans and specifications, soil and aggregate sampling and laboratory testing. Findings are completed and reported each day. Position may require frequent out of town work for several weeks and individuals will receive a generous per diem when traveling.
Daily reporting includes filling out checklists and inspection reports describing all work performed. These reports are completed at the end of each shift and submitted to the home office via the web. Well written, detailed, legible, timely, and accurate reports are crucial to success.
Requirements
A commitment to safety.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to provide care and basic maintenance for a fleet truck.
Ability to move from one job site to another and quickly learn site specific standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team when needed.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Detail oriented and organized.
Honesty and integrity are integral with the work to be performed and are therefore qualities an inspector must possess and utilize each day.
Technical school or Associates degree.
Ability to interpret construction schedules and blueprints.
At least two of the four certifications listed below. (All four certifications is ideal)
At least six months of directly related civil inspection experience.
Certifications
The following certifications are required to perform this work:
1) Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification (Portable Nuclear Density/Moisture Gauge Safety Training)
2) ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1
3) National Highway Institute Drilled Shaft Inspector Certification
4) Substation Entry Training
Pay is dependent on experience and certifications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour
